Raffaele Riva was born in 1962 with dual citizenship thanks to his Italian and Swiss parents. Attending the Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, Riva would graduate with honors where he would acquire his specialties with a degree in economics. Within a few years, Riva was working within the auditing and accounting department of a Big 4 firm in Italy.
Now revered for his work as the founder of AUREA Multi Family Office in 2008, Raffaele Riva has enjoyed success under the spotlight within the entrepreneurial realm.
Looking to share some of the concepts that have lent him success over the years, Raffaele Riva sat down with the team at Ideamensch to explore what efforts and practices have best prepared him for success.
Success With High-Level Businesses
After beginning his career in finance as an assistant within an audit and accounting firm, Raffaele would work his way to supervisor before leaving the company behind entirely for bigger and better things. An international career saw Riva work in Switzerland, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands while serving on boards as a senior executive. Looking back on his efforts over the years, Riva admits that there was no throughline of a ‘typical day’.
Riva stated of his work and life balance, “I would like to point out that there is no typical day in my working life.”
With regard to how he approaches the day’s battles, Riva likes to set aside time to journal his notes while outlining tasks that may require accomplishing. With an average of 12 hours on the clock every day, Riva likes to start his morning with the most pressing matters before transitioning into his appointments and core meetings.
In addition to his focus on timeliness and flexibility, Riva knows that a positive mindset is integral to long-term success in such a risky field. Riva says that it is imperative, “To think always positive and to be kept up to date.”
Different Approach to Work and Life
Despite reaching such proclaimed heights with his work at AUREA, Riva understands that there is more to life than simply grinding away at the office. Riva says to people looking to emulate his efforts, “Do not put other people’s priorities ahead of your own!”
While it is important to be helpful and even supportive to those around you, Riva suggests that you can never get ahead in life or work if you are constantly putting everyone else ahead of you with regard to your priorities. Riva went on to add in his interview with Ideamensch, “Do what you like and makes you feel better, believe in it, and never fear failure.”
In his time at the office, Raffaele Riva focuses on providing value to the lives of his clients and colleagues as one of his core long-term goals. Riva says, “Always think in terms of serving and even if your client was the one who was wrong, take the initiative to fix things and correct them immediately.”
With regard to the future, Riva likes to quote a man by the name of Albert Einstein: “Stay away from negative people. They have a problem for every solution!”
